Doylestown Rotary Awards $5,000 Grant to Shared Wellness to Fund Gross Motor Room for Adults with Sensory Needs

DOYLESTOWN, PA – Shared Wellness is proud to announce it has been awarded a $5,000 community grant from the Doylestown Rotary Club to support the development of a dedicated gross motor movement room at its new trauma-informed Wellness Center in Warrington, PA.

This space—part of the broader Shared Wellness Community Center initiative—will be designed for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), Autism, and co-occurring behavioral health needs who benefit from active, sensory-based interventions. It will also serve caregivers, support staff, and community members who lack access to tools for stress management, emotional wellbeing, and nervous system regulation.

The grant is one of several awarded through the Rotary Club’s 2025 Doylestown at Dusk Car Show initiative, aimed at strengthening community wellbeing across Bucks County.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the Doylestown Rotary for recognizing the importance of whole-person wellness,” said Christine Martin, President and Founder of Shared Wellness. “This funding allows us to offer something that’s often missing from adult services—a safe, stimulating space designed to meet the sensory needs of those who experience the world differently.”

The gross motor room will include therapeutic equipment such as weighted blankets, swings, balance beams, resistance bands, and other tools that support sensory integration and body-based emotional regulation. This initiative reflects a broader movement at Shared Wellness to shift away from crisis-driven care and toward proactive, healing-centered support.

Shared Wellness currently serves 149 individuals across Bucks County through a range of services, including residential programs, family support, and clinical care. The new Wellness Center—set to open in late summer 2025—marks a major expansion of the organization’s trauma-informed model, offering accessible wellness practices like mindfulness, movement, expressive arts, and community programming.

As part of the celebration, a representative from Shared Wellness will take the stage at the Doylestown at Dusk Car Show on July 19, 2025, to receive the Rotary’s symbolic “Big Check” in honor of the award.

“This grant brings us one step closer to creating a space where wellness is not a luxury—it’s a lifeline,” added Martin. “We’re building a place that centers dignity, accessibility, and healing for everyone who walks through our doors.”

State Representative Melissa Cerrato Endorses New Shared Wellness Center in Warrington

HORSHAM, PA — Shared Wellness is honored to receive the strong backing of State Representative Melissa Cerrato for its trauma-informed Wellness Center, currently under development in Warrington.

In a recent meeting with Shared Wellness leadership, Rep. Cerrato praised the organization’s innovative approach to making whole-person care accessible for all—especially for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

Drawing from her own background in caregiving and years of public service, Rep. Cerrato emphasized the importance of supporting caregivers, a value she has championed throughout her career. She also acknowledged the uncertainty families and providers face when vital funding and supports are at risk.

“Representative Cerrato’s support reinforces what we know to be true: healing happens through connection,” said Christine Martin, President of Shared Wellness.
“Her belief in our vision energizes our work,” added Alex Nocella, Vice President of Programs.

The forthcoming Wellness Center will offer evidence-based programming in emotional regulation, creative expression, educational services, and trauma recovery. At its core, the Center is designed to support adults with I/DD and Autism—but its reach goes further.

Shared Wellness is committed to removing barriers that have historically excluded vulnerable community members from accessing care. This includes caregivers, frontline workers, veterans, first responders, and individuals navigating trauma, chronic stress, or financial hardship.

A core focus of the Wellness Center is creating accessible, welcoming community spaces designed to support wellbeing, self-regulation, and co-regulation.

That includes two dedicated rooms—a gross motor integration space and a calming sensory room—intentionally designed for adults with Autism and sensory processing needs.

“Sensory challenges don’t end in childhood, but accessible spaces often do,” said Riki Geyer, Clinical Director. “We’re building a space where people of all abilities can reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and experience community in a safe, inclusive way.”

Rep. Cerrato joins a growing list of local leaders—including Representative Brian Munroe—who have stepped forward to champion Shared Wellness and its mission of inclusive, community-centered care.

During his visit, Rep. Munroe toured the facility and met with Shared Wellness leadership and staff, expressing his enthusiasm for the organization’s vision of fostering a healthier, more resilient community. His office released the following statement:

"I’m thrilled to celebrate the groundbreaking of Shared Wellness’ renovated center in Warrington, a project that will have a lasting positive impact on both our community and local economy. This investment not only enhances access to wellness resources but also creates new opportunities for employment and community engagement. Rep. Munroe was particularly impressed by the measurable results Shared Wellness has achieved in improving the lives of the individuals they support with developmental disabilities and how the organization is now opening its services to the larger community. As a first responder himself, he deeply understood the importance of finding peace and building community as integral steps toward healing. His connection to the center’s mission further emphasized the value of creating inclusive spaces where individuals such as first responders, veterans, and young families can find support and begin their journey toward well-being.

The newly renovated center in Warrington is a key milestone in Shared Wellness’ broader initiative to create inclusive spaces that promote mental, physical, and social well-being. The expansion reflects the organization’s commitment to providing accessible wellness solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community.

His support highlights the importance of partnerships between local leaders and community organizations in building a stronger, healthier future for all.”

Shared Wellness has been at the forefront of offering innovative wellness programs and resources, empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to achieve their fullest potential. The renovated 14,000-square-foot center will include new facilities designed for activities such as sound healing, meditation, and other programs that integrate wellness into daily life.
