September at Shared Wellness |
From photography clubs and nature outings to amusement parks, NASCAR races, train spotting, creative activities, and concerts in the park, there was no single way to have a meaningful summer. Each experience reflected the interests, choices, and passions of the person taking part.
As we look back on a summer filled with both new experiences and treasured traditions, we are also reminded of the people who helped make so many of those moments possible: our Direct Support Professionals. That makes September—and DSP Recognition Week—the perfect time to celebrate the DSPs who show up each day, build genuine relationships, and help people pursue the lives and experiences that are meaningful to them. |

SEPTEMBER IS ALL ABOUT OUR DSPs |

DSP Recognition Week, September 13–19. THE POWER OF DIRECT SUPPORT Direct Support Professionals do far more than provide care. They are teachers, advocates, problem-solvers, and trusted partners who help people with disabilities make choices, build relationships, explore their interests, and participate fully in their communities. It is skilled, deeply human work—built on patience, creativity, reliability, and respect.
DSPs are the people who walk alongside the people we support—our community members and loved ones—encouraging them, sharing experiences with them, and helping them pursue lives that are meaningful to them. This September, we’re proud to celebrate the DSPs who turn inclusion into action and help create lives with greater choice, connection, and possibility.
We’ll continue recognizing these essential members of our Network of Care throughout the month. Follow us on social media as we share their stories, celebrate their strengths, and highlight the relationships at the heart of direct support. Different backgrounds. Different strengths. This is Our Network of Care. |

There’s something for everyone at the Shared Wellness Center.
Our Meaningful Day participants can explore movement, creativity, health, and connection—with self-advocacy joining the curriculum this month. Beyond the daytime program, our inclusive evening calendar welcomes people with IDD/A, families, friends, and community members to connect through Shared Voices, Supper Club, modified wellness activities, and the return of Shine Together Dances.
Caregivers, employees, family members, and members of the wider community can also make time for themselves through meditation, yoga, sound healing, and other thoughtfully designed self-care experiences. However you choose to participate, there’s a place for you here. Come as you are. Take what you need. We’ll see you at Wellness! |

EVERYONE BRINGS SOMETHING TO THE TABLE |
August’s breakfast-for-dinner Supper Club brought sizzling sausage, eggs, hotcakes, and plenty of fun to the Wellness Center!
Jeff keeps every Supper Club fresh and interesting, while the people we support and our wonderful DSPs cook, set the table, serve, and clean up, and enjoy the evening together. Everyone contributes—and skills, confidence, and relationships grow along the way. Next up: a little football-season spirit! Join us September 8 from 5–7 PM. RSVP today! |
